Helene Jones has been teaching for over 20 years, fully qualified with the International Dance Teachers Association (I.D.T.A.) she receives regular updates on the newest dance forms and styles as well as recognised examinations for students who wish to gain qualifications; from rosette awards for the infants to becoming a fully qualified teacher yourself! Helene has been holding biannual examination sessions in an increasing number of subjects and levels since 1990 and the school was proud to produce it’s first fully qualified IDTA Teacher in 2006!
Dance-Art Examination Policy
Examinations are awarded by an external examiner from the I.D.T.A. and not by the Principal.
Helene has no say in the grades awarded by the examiner.
The final schedule for examination sessions is provided to Helene by the I.D.T.A. and as such, we have no control over the time of day your exam will take place.
It is also important to understand the examiner may call your exam up to 30 mins early.
If you are late or miss your slot we will do everything possible to ensure you can still take your exam in that session but sadly this is not always a viable option. It is therefore essential to be in the changing rooms dressed and ready to dance at least 30 minutes before your allocated time.
During examination the I.D.T.A’s strict standards of dress and behaviour must be adhered to.
Uniform information will be provided to each pupil with conformation of their examination date. To avoid a last minute panic, please do check well in advance that you have all the necessary items!
Helene is always happy to recommend local retailers and if in doubt, do speak to her after your class.
Hair should be tied back in a pony-tail plait / French plait, or secured in a bun for ballet exams.
Jewellery must not be worn.
If it is absolutely unavoidable e.g newly pierced ears it is necessary to cover these with flesh covered plasters.
Please make sure nail-varnish is removed and any transfer-tattoos, henna designs etc. are removed or covered.
The wearing of heavy make-up is discouraged.
